Our current reality changed to what we could never have imagined and for the first time since inception there was no physical gathering for the annual Olive Conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But one thing remains certain, the move of God can never be stopped! Hence, we had our largest gathering whilst hosting our first virtual Olive Conference in the year 2020!
The virtual conference was a great alternative for children & teens’ ministers to re-evaluate connections with their protégés by;
- Opening up to new opportunities available to minister
- Disrupting the traditional approaches of influencing children/teenagers
- Challenging the status quo by adopting new tools in this ministry and scaling up towards change.
To this effect, the 2020 Virtual Olive Conference had over five hundred registered children, teens and youth influencers from all over the world spanning the United States of America (USA), South Africa, South Korea, Canada, New Zealand and Nigeria. This gave us a time of fellowship and intense training with a total of 114 churches across the continent of Africa, Oceania, Europe, Asia and North America!
The major Highlights of the conference were the;
- A panel discussion
- A session tagged the ‘The 5W’s and 1H questions for youth influencers’ by the keynote speaker – Mrs Toyin Poju-Oyemade.
- A workshop with five breakout sessions to choose from as detailed below;
- Children and Teens church startups
- Internet safety for children and teenagers
- Making videos to teach in class
- Preparing and presenting effective bible lessons
- Using technology in children and teens ministry
Olive Conferences are not just one-off events they are God-inspired; transformational, inspirational, and educative! For more on the year 2020 Olive conference please check our blog posts.
